The Ministry of Education and Culture will hold a public launch event for the evaluation of the legislation underpinning the Finnish Model for Leisure Activities (Harrastamisen Suomen malli) on Wednesday 17 June 2026, from 11.30 to 13.30, via Microsoft Teams.
The Finnish Model for Leisure Activities is a form of activity run by the Ministry of Education and Culture. It aims to increase the wellbeing of children and young people by enabling every child and young person to take part in a pleasant, free-of-charge hobby in connection with the school day.
The evaluation was carried out jointly by the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (Karvi) and Motiva Oy, as required by the Government Programme, and examines how well the model’s legislation functions in practice.
At the event, the evaluators will present which elements of the legislation hinder and which advance the achievement of the model’s goals. The model’s effectiveness has also been assessed from a cost–benefit perspective, and the evaluators will share their recommendations for the model’s further development. No registration is required.
A recording of the event will be made available on the Ministry of Education and Culture’s YouTube channel and on the Finnish Model for Leisure Activities website. The event can be joined via Teams.
